What type of data is classified as continuous data?

Continuous data refers to a type of quantitative data that can take on any value within a specified range. This means that continuous data can include fractions, decimals, and can theoretically take on an infinite number of values between any two points. For example, measurements such as height, weight, temperature, and time are considered continuous because they can vary smoothly and can include any value (e.g., 5.2, 5.5, 5.7, etc.) within a defined interval.

In contrast, other types of data, such as whole numbers (the first choice) or categorical values (the last choice), do not conform to the concept of continuity as they are limited to specific, distinct values or categories. The idea of discrete data (the third choice) relates to values that are counted in whole numbers and do not allow for fractional or decimal values, thus further separating it from the definition of continuous data.
